Additional Information

The HOPE Science Fair is for students of all ages to display their work and explore science projects done by other homeschooled children. Students will conduct their research and then present their results at the Science Fair. High School students are encouraged to participate, though serious science students who wish to compete in regional or statewide fairs should contact a local private school to get details on their requirements. Our science fair judges will talk to participants in their age group category, but will judge projects only if parents request judging on the registration form. Every child will receive a certificate of participation. Competitive exhibits will be judged on accuracy, neatness, interest, and complexity applicable to the entrant's age.

Set up will be from 9 - 9:30am. Judging will begin promptly at 9:30am. Awards will be presented at approximately 11:00am.

Requirements:

1) Include Title of Exhibit, Child’s Name, Age and Grade

2) Display - Information using an upright trifold (\__/ top view)

Project Categories:

E- Science Experiment: Student will use the scientific method to conduct an experiment. This should include a Question (or the Purpose), Hypothesis (what you think will happen), Procedure (with control and independent variables), Results (with data collected and graphs to display the data) and Conclusion. D – Science Demonstration: Student will demonstrate, explain, or display some scientific principle, concept or topic. For example: how something works, or what it is (any topic where no experiment is being conducted). C – Collection: The young student will display a collection with general information about the collection. (Ages 8 and under only)

This is an opportunity to foster the love of science!

Planning Tip: Create a timeline with deadlines for your child to complete the project. Last minute projects can be stressful!

**Please be considerate of the amount of planning that goes into organizing an event of this size. The coordinators set up tables and create judges' schedules according to submitted sign ups. No-shows are very discouraging. Please contact the coordinator immediately if your plans change.**
